Ocean Visuals is participating in the International Oil Spill Science Conference (IOSSC 2026), taking place from 13–16 October at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.

The conference brings together researchers, government representatives, industry professionals and oil spill response specialists to share knowledge and discuss current challenges in oil spill science, preparedness and response.
A key focus of IOSSC 2026 is the development of technologies and methods for oil spill identification, detection, surveillance and monitoring. These areas are central to improving situational awareness and supporting timely, informed response decisions.
Ocean Visuals' OWL™ LiDAR sensor suite enables real-time detection, identification and quantification of oil and other organic substances in water, including at and below the surface. The technology provides additional insight into oil that conventional monitoring methods may miss.
IOSSC provides a forum for scientific research, practical experience and emerging technologies to inform oil spill preparedness and response. By bringing together experts across research, industry and response organisations, the conference encourages collaboration on challenges affecting freshwater and marine environments.
Ocean Visuals looks forward to engaging with the international oil spill science and response community in Montreal.

“The operational use of this technology has the potential to improve the verification of suspicious oil features, the detection of oil in the water column, reducing the need for conventional laboratory analysis.”
